The most senior editor, with overall responsibility for the journal.
- Selecting of reviewers
- Gauging quality of accepted papers
- Improving the impact factor of the journal
- writing editorials
- Liaising and managing the Editorial board and editorial staff
- Making final decisions on acceptance or rejection
- Working closely with other publishers and respective companies, institutions, and bodies in general
Section 1.2 Editorial strategist (Associate editor)
- Organize logistics of the journal (online organization, submission and acceptance transfers, and so forth)
- Identify hot topics
- Source high quality manuscripts
- Manage all administration and organizing the flow of manuscripts
- Ensure that final publications are complete and ready for publishing (layout and copy editing)
- Commission articles
- Conducts heavy developmental/technical editing of manuscripts
Section 1.3 Editorial Board
The editorial board consists of prominent people in Linguistic Anthropology, Language and Culture, with a focus either on Asia, or working in Asia, and hence with strong knowledge of the Asian context. However, the board members must also have strong international experience. The board members will represent the JALA, and the quality of the journal will be judged by the strengths of these members, as well as their scholarly credentials. Potential candidates might be recruited from authors or peer reviewers that have worked for your journal or from recommendations by other board members. A term of office of three years is fairly normal for many journals.
The Editorial board will
- advise and support the Editor in Chief
- identify topics for themed and special editions
- advise on the direction of the JALA
- provide feedback on issues
- suggest subject matter
- suggest potential authors
- contribute editorials and short articles
- invite potential contributors
- identity peer reviewers
- provide second opinions on papers (in peer review conflict)
- endorse the journal

The journal will be a quarterly publication, with issues to be released on March 1, June 1, September, December 1
Size

The reviewer pool will contain approximately 100 reviewers, with focus on Asia. Prominent people in Linguistic Anthropology with focus on other regions will also be considered.

Editor in Chief
The term for the position of Editor in Chief will be renewed annually, and this will be agreed on six months prior to each end of term. The continuous renewal will become predicated on successful execution of required duties as agreed on with the EIC. However, the EIC will be given extensive assistance, so to maintain this performance.

The term for a position within the EDitorial board will be renewed/reviewed annually, and this will be agreed on six months prior to each end of term.
